Description

Lietuvos geležinkeliai, operating under the brand LitRail, is a dedicated mobile network operating in Lithuania, Europe. Specifically designed to cater to the communications needs of the Lithuanian Railways (Lietuvos geležinkeliai) infrastructure and personnel, LitRail's network holds significant importance for the efficient and secure operations of the national railway system. Its unique application differentiates it from the public mobile network operators within Lithuania, such as Telia, Tele2 and Bite, as Lithuanian Railways requires a completely separate and independent network for it's railway infrastructure and national security.

Identified by the Mobile Country Code (MCC) 246, signifying Lithuania, and the Mobile Network Code (MNC) 05, LitRail represents a critical component of the country’s transportation infrastructure. This distinctive MCC/MNC combination allows mobile devices and network equipment to correctly identify and connect to the LitRail network within Lithuania. While exact technical details and coverage areas are not always publicly available due to security considerations and the specialized use case, it plays a crucial role ensuring the smooth and safe running of train services, signalling systems, and internal communications for Lietuvos geležinkeliai.
