Description

SŽ - Infrastruktura, d.o.o., operating within Slovenia, Europe, represents a unique case within the mobile network landscape. Officially registered with the Mobile Country Code (MCC) 293, identifying Slovenia, and the Mobile Network Code (MNC) 10, SŽ - Infrastruktura mainly caters to the infrastructural needs of the Slovenian Railways. Unlike typical Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) offering widespread consumer services like Telekom Slovenije or A1 Slovenija, SŽ - Infrastruktura's focus is on providing reliable communication channels for railway operations, maintenance, and security.

While the exact technology deployed by SŽ - Infrastruktura is not always publicly advertised, it's likely to utilise GSM-R (GSM for Railways), a specialized cellular communication standard widely used in European rail networks. GSM-R allows for secure voice and data transmission vital for train control, signaling, and emergency communication. This contrasts with the diverse 4G and 5G services offered by the major Slovenian MNOs, highlighting SŽ - Infrastruktura's niche role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of the country's railway infrastructure. Consequently, whilst sharing the same national MCC, SŽ - Infrastruktura operates within very specific operational parameters compared to the major Slovenian networks.
