Description

Telus Mobility MiKe, operating in Canada under Mobile Country Code (MCC) 302 and Mobile Network Code (MNC) 360, carved a unique niche in the North American mobile landscape, particularly within the Caribbean through roaming agreements. While Telus remains a major player in Canada's telecommunications sector, competing with Bell and Rogers, the MiKe service (initially branded as Clearnet Mike) offered something distinctive: integrated digital mobile radio (iDEN) technology. This push-to-talk functionality, reminiscent of walkie-talkies, proved especially popular among businesses requiring instant communication between teams, such as construction companies and dispatch services.

Although Telus ultimately sunsetted the MiKe network, opting to focus on its HSPA+ and LTE networks, the legacy of the service highlights the diverse approaches taken by mobile providers to meet specific user needs within a large and varied country like Canada. Understanding the MCC 302 and MNC 360 assigned to Telus Mobility MiKe provides a historical snapshot of the evolution of mobile technology and spectrum allocation in Canada, a crucial aspect of studying the regional telecommunications landscape spanning North America and the Caribbean.
