Description

Arctic Slope Telephone Association Cooperative (ASTAC) stands as a unique provider of telecommunications services across the challenging terrain of northern Alaska, United States of America, within the North America & Caribbean region. Unlike nationwide giants, ASTAC focuses on serving the communication needs of communities scattered across the Arctic Slope Borough, a region characterized by its remoteness and harsh climate. This localized approach allows them to tailor services and infrastructure to the specific demands of the area, ensuring connectivity in places where larger carriers may find it economically unfeasible.

Operating under Mobile Country Code (MCC) 312, designating the United States, and Mobile Network Code (MNC) 760, ASTAC distinguishes itself within the American mobile landscape. While major national carriers like Verizon or AT&T pursue ubiquitous coverage, ASTAC prioritizes reliable service within its defined service area. This involves deploying specialized solutions to overcome geographical obstacles and environmental challenges, and can often include satellite based solutions. While not often compared to, or directly competing with nationwide carriers, ASTAC plays a vital role in connecting rural Alaskan communities in the Arctic Slope region, ensuring social and business continuity for the people that live there.
