Description

Imperial County Office of Education (ICOE) operates a dedicated mobile network in Imperial County, California, United States, serving the educational needs of the region. Utilizing MCC 313, which identifies the United States, and MNC 250, this network infrastructure supports various educational initiatives, including providing internet access to students and staff, facilitating remote learning opportunities, and enabling communication across the county's school districts. This is especially crucial in a predominantly rural county like Imperial where other network provisions are scarce, as bridging the digital divide amongst the community is extremely important.

Compared to larger national carriers, the ICOE mobile network has a more focused scope, specifically optimized for educational applications within the specific geographical area of Imperial County. The ICOE network represents an approach for specific regions with unique communication requirements or limited commercial service options. ICOE has been known to be a community driven entity, and often works with volunteers and local support to help develop the network and associated infrastructure. Utilizing a specific band spectrum the ICOE has to work closely with local authorities in order to provide a fair service to all members of the county.
