Description

Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS) is a shared spectrum band in the United States leveraging the 3.5 GHz band (specifically, 3550-3700 MHz). This innovative approach to spectrum allocation, managed across three tiers of access, aims to foster competition and innovation in the telecom industry, especially for operators seeking to deploy private LTE or 5G networks. CBRS is particularly significant in North America & Caribbean, including the United States of America as it offers a localized opportunity to build networks and wireless services customized to meet specific organizational needs.

In the United States, CBRS is identified with Mobile Country Code (MCC) 315. While a single, consistent Mobile Network Code (MNC) across the entire CBRS deployment doesn't exist due to its shared nature, accessing a CBRS provider using public infrastructure can show an MNC of 010. Unlike larger national carriers like Verizon and AT&T, which operate using licensed spectrum covering vast geographical areas, CBRS allows smaller entities – from businesses to municipalities – to establish their own wireless networks. This can facilitate everything from enhanced connectivity in manufacturing plants or educational campuses to improved rural broadband access. The flexibility and control offered by CBRS makes it a compelling alternative or complement to traditional cellular service across America.
