Description

Gujarat IDEA, operating in India under the Asia & Middle East region, is a prominent mobile network identified by its Mobile Country Code (MCC) of 404 and Mobile Network Code (MNC) of 24. Historically a significant player in the Indian telecom landscape, IDEA Cellular merged with Vodafone India in 2018 to form Vodafone Idea Limited (Vi), becoming one of the largest telecom operators in the country. Although the IDEA brand identity gradually transitioned to Vi, its legacy remains relevant for understanding the evolution of mobile communications in Gujarat and India as a whole.

Before the merger, IDEA was known for its strong presence in rural areas, offering affordable mobile plans and services to a wide demographic. Comparing it to other major Indian networks such as Airtel and Jio, IDEA carved a niche through customer-centric approaches and innovative tariff plans. For individuals researching historical network data or tracing the history of Indian cellular services, the MCC 404 and MNC 24 remain pertinent identifiers. The move to Vi represents a major consolidation in the competitive Indian telecom market, facing challenges such as high spectrum costs and intense competition.
