Description

Orissa AIRCEL, operating in India's Orissa region, was a mobile network provider identified by its Mobile Country Code (MCC) of 404 and Mobile Network Code (MNC) of 28. Within the highly competitive Indian telecommunications landscape, AIRCEL aimed to deliver mobile services to a significant portion of the population, facing challenges similar to other operators in the Asia & Middle East region, such as infrastructure limitations and pricing pressures. As a key player in the Orissa circle, AIRCEL contributed to the increasing mobile penetration rate across India, a country witnessing rapid advancements in its telecommunications sector.

Although AIRCEL faced financial difficulties and ultimately ceased operations, its presence contributed to the evolution of mobile services in India. Competition from rivals like Airtel, Vodafone Idea (now Vi), and Reliance Jio, all vying for market share, played a significant role in this evolution. The 404 MCC is specific to India, highlighting the unique regulatory and technological environment within which these mobile networks operated. The now-defunct AIRCEL's legacy includes its impact on pricing strategies, technology adoption, and the overall customer experience within the specific geographic area of Orissa, leaving its mark on the history of India's mobile telecommunications industry.
