Description

Orissa Vodafone India (MCC 405, MNC 753) represented a significant part of Vodafone India's network operations within the Orissa (now Odisha) region of India. As a major player in India's competitive telecommunications landscape, Vodafone India, before its merger with Idea Cellular to form Vi (Vodafone Idea), provided a range of mobile services including voice, data (2G, 3G, and later 4G), and mobile payment solutions. The network’s presence in Orissa, strategically important within the wider Asia & Middle East context, aimed to connect individuals and businesses across the state, fostering economic growth and social inclusion through improved communication infrastructure. Vodafone India contended with other national mobile network operators such as Airtel, Jio, and the aforementioned Idea Cellular, each vying for market share and offering differing network coverages and tariff plans specifically catered to the Indian consumer base.

The significance of MCC (Mobile Country Code) 405 and MNC (Mobile Network Code) 753 lies in their role as unique identifiers for Vodafone India's network within the global mobile network ecosystem. These codes are crucial for mobile devices to correctly identify and connect to the appropriate network when roaming or when initializing service within the Orissa region. The network rollout in Orissa reflected Vodafone's broader investment strategy in India, focusing on expanding network coverage to both urban centers and rural areas. Before the emergence of 4G and Jio's disruptive pricing, Vodafone (along with Airtel) held a considerable share of India's mobile subscribers and revenue, emphasizing the impact of its regional networks like the one in Orissa. The availability and affordability of Vodafone's services played a role in the increasing mobile penetration rate across India, contributing to greater connectivity in the country.
