Description

Assam Uninor, operating with MCC 405 and MNC 875 in India, specifically served the Assam region and surrounding areas. This made it a key mobile network operator within the diverse Indian telecommunications landscape, which itself is part of the broader Asia & Middle East connectivity market. Although Uninor is no longer operational under that name, its legacy reflects the evolving nature of the Indian mobile market and the challenges of providing affordable and reliable service in a region with unique geographical and socio-economic characteristics. While other national players like Airtel and Vodafone Idea (formerly Vodafone and Idea Cellular) had a larger nationwide presence, Uninor aimed to carve a niche by focusing on value-for-money services tailored to the local population.

The assigned MCC of 405 firmly placed Assam Uninor's operations within India. Coupled with its unique MNC of 875, these codes were vital for mobile devices to properly identify and connect to the network. This allowed seamless communication across the region. Uninor's existence played a role in shaping the competitive dynamics of the Indian telecom sector, particularly pushing for lower call rates and affordable data plans. While the brand eventually transitioned, its impact on the availability of mobile services in Assam and its surrounding regions can't be ignored. This transition highlights the complex regulatory environment and market pressures that mobile operators in India face.
