Description

Maharashtra Uninor, operating in the Maharashtra region of India within the broader Asia & Middle East scope, was a GSM mobile network using the Mobile Country Code (MCC) 405, identifying India, and the Mobile Network Code (MNC) 929. Uninor aimed to provide affordable mobile services, targeting value-conscious customers, similar to other mobile operators focusing on affordability in the competitive Indian market, such as Tata Docomo in other areas of the country. Its services included voice calls, SMS, and mobile internet, catering to the communication needs of a significant portion of the Indian population residing within its operational area.

While Uninor ceased operations in India following license cancellations ordered by the Supreme Court in 2012 due to allocation irregularities, its presence highlighted the dynamics of the Indian telecom sector. At it's peak it competed with other established networks like Airtel, Vodafone Idea, and Reliance Jio, all vying for market share in one of the world's largest mobile markets. The network code, MCC 405 MNC 929, whilst now inactive, remains a historical identifier for Uninor's presence and operation within the Maharashtra region of India. The legacy it leaves behind contributed to the evolution of India's vibrant mobile telecommunications landscape and its impact on connectivity within the Asia & Middle East region is still seen today through the infrastructure and customers it used to handle.
