Description

Grameenphone Ltd., often simply called Grameenphone, is the leading telecommunications service provider in Bangladesh. As the largest mobile network operator in the country, it commands a significant market share and is a key player in connecting millions of Bangladeshis across urban and rural landscapes. Grameenphone operates under the Mobile Country Code (MCC) 470, identifying it as a Bangladeshi network, and the Mobile Network Code (MNC) 01. This unique identifier allows mobile devices to correctly identify and connect to the Grameenphone network across the region of Asia & Middle East.

Established with the goal of providing connectivity to even the most remote areas, Grameenphone has played a pivotal role in Bangladesh's digital transformation. Competitors include other major mobile networks in Bangladesh, such as Robi Axiata and Banglalink, each vying for market share and offering a range of services from basic voice calls to high-speed data and mobile financial services. Grameenphone's commitment to innovation and its extensive network infrastructure has contributed to its widespread adoption, making it an integral part of the Bangladeshi communication landscape. Its early focus on rural connectivity, a core principle inspired by the Grameen Bank model, helped bridge the digital divide in a country with a large rural population.
