Description

RailCorp, officially known as Transport for New South Wales RailCorp, operates a dedicated mobile network primarily for internal communications and operational needs within its rail infrastructure. Serving the state of New South Wales, Australia, this crucial network utilizes the Mobile Country Code (MCC) 505, assigned to Australia, and the Mobile Network Code (MNC) 13. This specific MCC/MNC combination distinguishes RailCorp’s network from other Australian mobile carriers like Telstra (MCC 505, MNC 01), Optus (MCC 505, MNC 02), and Vodafone (MCC 505, MNC 14). Unlike public mobile networks focused on consumer services, RailCorp’s network is engineered for reliable and secure communication, playing a vital role in train operations, signaling, and maintenance, therefore is a vital part of the transport network.

The RailCorp mobile network is a vital component for everyday safety and efficiency for the rail network as a whole through New South Wales. By utilizing a dedicated spectrum and infrastructure, RailCorp minimises congestion and ensures priority for critical communications. While specific technical details regarding the network's technology and coverage are generally kept internal for security and operational reasons, it is understood that the network employs technologies suitable for supporting voice and data transmission necessary for modern railway management. The network plays a critical role in the overall efficient operations of trains like any other public transport systems found across Oceania.
