Description

Ausgrid Corporation, operating in Australia (MCC 505), specifically utilizes the Mobile Network Code (MNC) 20. As a player within the Australian telecommunications landscape, Ausgrid complements the established networks such as Telstra (MNC 01, 02), Optus (MNC 03, 06, 38), and Vodafone Hutchison Australia (MNC 04, 05). While these larger networks provide comprehensive national coverage, Ausgrid's focus likely centers around specific industrial or utility-related communication needs, potentially utilizing its mobile network to manage and monitor its expansive electrical infrastructure across New South Wales. This targeted approach differentiates it from the broader consumer-focused offerings of the major telcos.

Within Oceania, Australia's mobile market is relatively mature, but the presence of networks like Ausgrid highlights the diversity and specialization existing beyond the dominant players. The use of a dedicated MCC/MNC combination (505 20) confirms official registration and allocation, enabling Ausgrid to operate its mobile network legally and manage its SIM cards and network infrastructure within the specific parameters established by Australian regulatory bodies. It differs from a MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) as this is a registered network, and isn't using another main providers infrastructure. This approach allows them to control, and secure their network directly.
