Description

Roy Hill Iron Ore Pty Ltd operates a dedicated mobile network in Western Australia, primarily serving its expansive mining operations. Using MCC 505, identifying Australia, and MNC 44, this network provides essential communication infrastructure for the Roy Hill iron ore mine in the Pilbara region. This private network is a necessity in such a remote location where public mobile network coverage from the likes of Telstra, Optus, and Vodafone might be limited or non-existent, insuring seamless communications across the large mining location.

Focusing on operational efficiency and safety, the Roy Hill network likely utilizes technologies such as GSM, UMTS, or LTE to provide voice, data, and potentially IoT connectivity for various mining activities. Unlike consumer-facing networks that prioritize widespread coverage, Roy Hill's network is strategically built to cover the mine site, processing plant, and related infrastructure, offering critical communications and data solutions in a demanding industrial environment. The deployment and management represents a self-sufficient approach to mobile communications for isolated Australian mining ventures.
