Description

Viettel Tanzania Limited, operating under the brand name Halotel, is a mobile network provider in Tanzania, East Africa. It holds significant importance within the Tanzanian telecommunications landscape, contributing to the country's mobile connectivity and digital inclusion efforts. Designated with the Mobile Country Code (MCC) 640, which identifies Tanzania, and the Mobile Network Code (MNC) 09, Halotel distinguishes itself within the network ecosystem. As Tanzania's population seeks affordable and reliable mobile services, Halotel plays a vital role in bridging the digital divide, particularly in rural areas.

Halotel faces competition from other major mobile network operators in Tanzania, such as Vodacom Tanzania, Tigo Tanzania and Airtel Tanzania, but has been actively focused on expanding its network coverage and offering competitive data plans, specifically with the goal of growing 4G and 5G coverage across the nation. This expansion is key in supporting Tanzania's growing demand for mobile internet access and various digital services. By focusing on affordable connectivity solutions, Halotel contributes to the social and economic empowerment of Tanzanians, similar to how other Viettel-owned networks operate in various emerging markets across Africa, Asia and Latin America.
