Description

Lumitel, operating in Burundi, Africa, is a mobile network provider under the Viettel Group umbrella. Designated with the Mobile Country Code (MCC) 642 and Mobile Network Code (MNC) 08, Lumitel provides cellular services across the nation. Burundi, a landlocked country in the Great Rift Valley, has seen growth in mobile connectivity, and Lumitel plays a significant role in this expansion, offering voice, data, and mobile money services. Key competitors in the Burundian mobile market include Econet Leo (formerly known as Spacetel) and Onatel, presenting a competitive landscape for mobile communication.

As part of Viettel, a global telecommunications giant with operations in numerous countries across Asia, Africa, and the Americas, Lumitel benefits from substantial infrastructure and expertise. Viettel's investment in Burundi through Lumitel has contributed to improved network coverage and accessibility, particularly in rural areas where connectivity was previously limited. This has aided in bridging the digital divide and facilitating economic growth within the region, in addition to providing an alternative to the other mobile networks operating within Burundi. User feedback often cites Lumitel's efforts to expand its 3G and 4G coverage as a positive factor.
