Description

The Cape Town Metropolitan Council mobile network, operating within South Africa (MCC 655), provides connectivity solutions tailored to the administrative and operational needs of the city. Unlike commercial mobile networks such as Vodacom (MNCs 01, 02, 03, 04, 05, 06, 07, 08, 09,10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 19, 22, 23, 26), MTN (MNCs 10, 14), or Cell C (MNC 01), this network (MNC 21) likely focuses on providing secure and reliable communication for municipal workers, emergency services, and potentially public safety initiatives within the Cape Town metropolitan area. Its infrastructure and services are designed to enhance efficiency and coordination within the city's governance.

While specific details on the technology and coverage employed by the Cape Town Metropolitan Council network may be limited in public access, these types of private networks are designed for dedicated usage , rather than broad consumer availability. Functioning under the South African regulatory framework, the network must adhere to ICASA (Independent Communications Authority of South Africa) guidelines for spectrum allocation and network operation. The Cape Town Metropolitan Council network contributes to the overall communications landscape within South Africa, alongside larger national providers, supporting critical infrastructure and urban management in one of Africa’s major cities.
