Description

Empresa Hondureña de Telecomunicaciones (Hondutel), Honduras' state-owned telecommunications provider, operates a mobile network alongside its fixed-line and internet services. Identifying Hondutel's network on mobile devices involves recognizing the Mobile Country Code (MCC) 708, specific to Honduras, and the Mobile Network Code (MNC) 30, unique to Hondutel. While facing competition from larger international players like Tigo and Claro, Hondutel continues to serve a significant portion of the Honduran population, particularly in areas where other networks might have limited coverage.

Hondutel plays a vital role in connecting communities throughout Honduras, a geographically diverse nation in Central America. Its network infrastructure, while potentially not as extensive as its competitors in terms of 4G/5G deployment, is historically significant, and the company is working to modernize its offerings. Users traveling in Honduras can manually select the Hondutel network within their phone settings, looking for either "Hondutel" or the MCC/MNC combination of 708 30 if automatic selection fails. Understanding the MCC and MNC codes aids in identifying the specific network being used, irrespective of branding.
