Description

Telefónica Móviles Panama S.A., operating under the Movistar brand, is a prominent mobile network operator in Panama, covering the South & Central America region. Identified by the Mobile Country Code (MCC) 714 and Mobile Network Code (MNC) 02, Movistar provides a range of telecommunications services to both residential and business customers across the isthmus nation. The network plays a vital role in connecting Panamanians, competing alongside other established players in the market to deliver voice, data, and mobile broadband solutions. Recent network infrastructure investments have enabled Movistar to improve service quality. As of recently they are deploying 4G LTE and are also working towards 5G.

Movistar's presence in Panama reflects the wider influence of parent company Telefónica, a global telecommunications giant. Historically known as BellSouth Corp. (BSC) before being acquired by Telefónica, Movistar holds significance due to its extensive coverage footprint, especially in key demographics. The network coverage is a key factor for users when selecting a mobile network in Panama. Panama has seen some of it’s telecoms infrastructure get upgraded, however, the user base of Movistar has decreased in recent years as the market has more competition and has greater choice for it’s subscribers.
