Description

Telecomunicaciones Movilnet, commonly known as Movilnet, is Venezuela's first and one of its major mobile network operators. Operating under the Mobile Country Code (MCC) 734, which designates Venezuela, and with Mobile Network Code (MNC) 06, Movilnet plays a critical role in the nation's telecommunications infrastructure. Established in the early 1990s, it was initially a subsidiary of the state-owned CANTV. Movilnet provides a range of services, including 2G, 3G, and 4G LTE connectivity, covering a significant portion of the country, although service availability can vary, particularly in more remote areas. While other operators such as Digitel and Movistar also compete in the Venezuelan market, Movilnet has historically held a substantial market share.

Being state-owned, Movilnet's operations are often intertwined with Venezuelan government policies and economic realities. This has influenced its network upgrades, service pricing, and overall accessibility for the population. Compared to other regional operators in South & Central America, Movilnet faces unique challenges related to economic instability and infrastructure maintenance. Despite these obstacles, it remains a crucial communication provider, connecting millions of Venezuelans across the country. Information around coverage and specific network technologies may not always be readily available from official sources. User-generated coverage reports sometimes offer alternative insights regarding network service.
