Description

Administración Nacional de Telecomunicaciones (Antel) is Uruguay's state-owned telecommunications company, and the dominant mobile network operator in the country. As the leading provider, Antel boasts significant coverage across Uruguay, serving both urban centers like Montevideo and more rural areas. Identified internationally with Mobile Country Code (MCC) 748 and Mobile Network Code (MNC) 00, Antel plays a crucial role in connecting Uruguayans and facilitating business and communication. Its widespread network allows subscribers access to 2G, 3G, and 4G LTE cellular technologies and services and increasingly 5G, competing with other providers such as Movistar and Claro in the Uruguayan mobile market.

Established as a government entity, Antel has historically been at the forefront of telecommunications advancements in Uruguay, investing heavily in infrastructure to support the nation's connectivity needs. This commitment translates to a competitive range of services, including mobile voice and data plans, as well as fixed-line internet and television offerings. While other networks operate within Uruguay, Antel's longstanding presence and investment frequently positions it as a point of reference for network quality and coverage, particularly in regions where private investment may be less prevalent. The MCC 748 and MNC 0 are therefore an important identifier for users reliant on Antel’s dependable network throughout South & Central America.
