Description

ACeS, operating worldwide under Mobile Country Code (MCC) 901 and Mobile Network Code (MNC) 10, represents a unique approach to mobile communication. Unlike terrestrial cellular networks which rely on a network of ground-based antennas (think of leading networks such as Vodafone, or Telefonica), ACeS uses a satellite-based system to provide coverage. This allows them to offer connectivity to areas where traditional mobile networks struggle, such as remote regions and maritime environments. This fills a critical gap in communication infrastructure for a variety of users.

The network, whose name stands for Asia Cellular Satellite system, offers roaming capabilities globally through its satellite infrastructure, making it a versatile choice for users who frequently travel to areas with limited terrestrial coverage. The company utilises dedicated geostationary satellites to provide coverage across a large geographical area, which is different to Iridium or Inmarsat, who have constellations of satellites. While potentially more expensive than terrestrial mobile services, ACeS offers a valuable service where no other connectivity options may exist, ensuring consistent communication for businesses, government agencies, and individuals operating in challenging environments.
