Description

OneWeb, operating worldwide with a distinctive Mobile Network Code (MNC) of 60 under the Mobile Country Code (MCC) 901, aims to provide global internet access through a Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite constellation. This ambitious project seeks to bridge the digital divide, bringing connectivity to remote and underserved areas where traditional terrestrial networks struggle to reach. Unlike ground-based mobile networks that rely on a dense infrastructure of cell towers, OneWeb leverages satellites to beam internet signals directly to user terminals, potentially transforming internet access in regions with challenging topography or limited infrastructure.

The usage of MCC 901 signifies OneWeb's international scope, a contrast to most mobile network operators that are confined to a single country or a limited number of countries. While typical terrestrial networks like Vodafone or AT&T focus on building and maintaining extensive ground infrastructure within their respective territories, OneWeb's satellite-based approach allows it to offer services across vast geographical areas. This unique characteristic makes OneWeb a significant player in the global connectivity landscape, especially for users in maritime, aviation, and geographically isolated locations that existing ground based MCC/MNC mobile networks could not viably serve.
