Orange Austria GmbH, operating as "Orange AT," served as a prominent mobile network operator within Austria before its acquisition by Hutchison Drei Austria in 2012. Leveraging the Mobile Country Code (MCC) 232, which identifies Austria, and the Mobile Network Code (MNC) 06, Orange AT provided a range of telecommunication services, including voice, data, and SMS, across the nation. Operating in a competitive landscape with the likes of A1 Telekom Austria and T-Mobile Austria (now Magenta Telekom), Orange AT invested in network infrastructure to deliver reliable connectivity to its subscribers. While no longer operating under the Orange brand in Austria, its legacy contributes to the current mobile landscape. Orange AT played a crucial role in the evolution of mobile telecommunications by pushing the boundaries of innovation and customer service. The acquisition by Hutchison Drei Austria saw Orange's existing infrastructure, customer base, and spectrum resources integrated with the Hutchison Group's existing Austrian mobile business, resulting in a stronger competitor to the incumbent A1 Telekom Austria and other market players. Although the Orange brand isn't active anymore, the MCC 232 (Austria) and MNC 06 remain relevant for identifying historical network data and ensuring continuity in network operations during the transition.
