Description

НАЦИОНАЛНА КОМПАНИЯ ЖЕЛЕЗОПЪТНА ИНФРАСТРУКТУРА НКЖИ, often shortened to NKZI, operates as a vital communications network in Bulgaria, specifically tailored to support the country's extensive railway infrastructure. While primarily focused on internal railway operations, utilizing its radio spectrum, it officially registered with Mobile Country Code (MCC) 284, representing Bulgaria, and Mobile Network Code (MNC) 07. Understanding NKZI's unique role requires recognizing that its mobile network serves a very specific purpose – ensuring seamless and secure communication for train operations, signaling, and maintenance across the Bulgarian rail network. This distinct focus sets it apart from Bulgaria's more commercially-oriented mobile network operators like A1 Bulgaria, Telenor Bulgaria, and Vivacom, who provide mobile services to the general public.

Unlike the widespread coverage offered by the major Bulgarian mobile operators, NKZI's network is strategically deployed to cover railway lines and related infrastructure throughout the country. The network is critical for operational efficiency, safety, and real-time communication among train personnel, control centers, and maintenance teams. The selection of MCC 284 MNC 07 allows for identification and management of the network within the global mobile network ecosystem, even though its purpose is very targeted. As Bulgaria continues to invest in its railway infrastructure, NKZI plays a crucial role in modernizing and maintaining a safe and reliable transportation system.
