Caricel, officially Symbiote Investment Limited Caricel, is a mobile network operator providing services in Jamaica, a vibrant island nation located within the North America & Caribbean region. Recognized within the global mobile network ecosystem by its unique MCC (Mobile Country Code) of 338 – identifying Jamaica – and MNC (Mobile Network Code) of 40, Caricel aimed to offer an alternative to the established players in the Jamaican telecommunications market, promising competitive pricing and innovative service offerings. It’s important to note that the allocation of MCC and MNC codes are crucial for network identification internationally which allows users to seamlessly roam on different networks. While facing challenges and ultimately ceasing operations, Caricel's presence did briefly reshape the competitive landscape, offering consumers a different option alongside established networks like FLOW and Digicel who both have a strong presence across Jamaica.
