Pacific Bangladesh Telecom Limited, operating under the brand name Citycell, holds a significant place in Bangladesh's telecommunications history as one of its earliest mobile network operators. Using MCC (Mobile Country Code) 470, which identifies Bangladesh, and MNC (Mobile Network Code) 05, Citycell distinguished itself in the market initially by implementing CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) technology, a contrast to the GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) technology adopted by its competitors like Grameenphone and Banglalink   While GSM networks eventually became the dominant standard in Bangladesh and across Asia & Middle East, Citycell played a crucial role in introducing mobile technology to a developing nation, and despite facing challenges in maintaining its competitive edge amidst technological advancements, it holds a unique position in the country’s telecom landscape, though now defunct, it’s place in history secures it as one of the important networks in Bangladesh.
