Banglalion
Banglalion Communications Ltd. (MCC: 470, MNC: 10) was a prominent 4G mobile network operator in Bangladesh, falling under the Asia & Middle East region. Although its operations have ceased, Banglalion played a significant role in the early adoption of broadband wireless internet in the country. At the time, Banglalion aimed to deliver high-speed Internet access to homes and businesses, contributing to the expansion of internet connectivity across Bangladesh. It employed advanced technologies to reach locations where traditional fixed-line infrastructure was limited. While active, Banglalion competed with other major mobile network operators in Bangladesh such as Grameenphone, Robi Axiata, Banglalink and Teletalk. Unlike those networks which primarily focus on GSM-based mobile services (2G, 3G, and 4G), Banglalion distinguished itself by focusing on 4G fixed wireless broadband using WiMAX technology. Despite its initial popularity and pioneering efforts, Banglalion faced challenges in maintaining its market share and ultimately ceased operations due to a combination of factors, including technological advancements and increased competition from other 4G providers.
