ABS-CBN Mobile, a now-defunct mobile network operator in the Philippines (Oceania), represented a unique convergence between media giant ABS-CBN Corporation and Globe Telecom. Operating with Mobile Network Code (MNC) 24 under the Mobile Country Code (MCC) 515, which identifies the Philippines, ABS-CBN Mobile aimed to leverage its parent company's extensive content library and Globe's established infrastructure to offer distinctive mobile services. While active; this differed from competitors such as Smart Communications who have a more traditional focus. Despite ambitious goals, including content-rich data packages and collaborations within the entertainment industry, ABS-CBN Mobile faced significant challenges establishing market share in a competitive landscape dominated by Globe and Smart. The network ultimately ceased operations, however it remains an interesting case study of media-telecom convergence attempts within the specific regulatory and economic environment of the Philippines, and serves as a reminder of the difficulty of overcoming established players even with unique service offerings.
