TATA DOCOMO, operating in Chennai, India, was a well-known mobile network brand under the partnership between Tata Teleservices and NTT DOCOMO, a Japanese telecommunications giant. Utilizing the Mobile Country Code (MCC) 405, which identifies India, and the Mobile Network Code (MNC) 28, TATA DOCOMO provided GSM and CDMA mobile services across various circles, including Chennai. Although TATA DOCOMO eventually ceased operations as a separate entity, its presence in the Indian telecom market was significant, contributing to increased competition and innovation, particularly in data services and pricing strategies. While operating, TATA DOCOMO aimed to attract a younger demographic with its innovative plans and aggressive marketing campaigns. Compared to incumbent players like Airtel and Vodafone Idea, TATA DOCOMO often introduced competitive data packages, aiming to increase mobile internet penetration in a rapidly growing market. The Chennai circle was a key region for the network, reflecting the significant demand for mobile services in the metropolitan area. Following a series of financial challenges and increased competition in the Indian telecom sector, TATA DOCOMO's operations were eventually merged with Bharti Airtel in 2017.
