Gujarat TATA DOCOMO was a mobile network operator providing services in the Gujarat region of India. Operating under the Mobile Country Code (MCC) 405, which identifies India, and Mobile Network Code (MNC) 30, TATA DOCOMO was a notable player in the Indian telecom landscape. Part of the TATA Teleservices, a subsidiary of the massive Tata Group conglomerate, and in partnership with NTT DOCOMO of Japan, the network aimed to bring innovative telecom solutions to Indian consumers. While operating, it competed with other major players such as Airtel, Vodafone Idea, and Reliance Jio in a competitive market with diverse needs and expectations. TATA DOCOMO offered a range of services, including GSM-based mobile voice and data services. Launching originally with a pay-per-second pricing model to disrupt the market, it gained initial traction, particularly amongst price-sensitive consumers. However, like many operators in India, it faced intense competition and evolving market dynamics that ultimately led to restructuring. TATA Teleservices eventually sold its mobile business to Bharti Airtel in a deal completed in 2019, meaning that whilst Gujarat TATA DOCOMO as a brand no longer exists, its legacy forms a part of the network infrastructure now operated by Airtel across the region. Consumers should be aware that the MCC and MNC may have changed as a result of this acquisition and integration into the Airtel Network.
